Enol ethers of 1,3-cyclohexanedione derivatives and 7,8-dihydro-5(6H)-chromanone derivatives were synthesized and tested for fungistatic activity. The compound of highest antifungal activity was 7,8-dihydro-2-methyl-2-(4-methyl-3-pentenyl)-5(6H)-chromanone (IX).

A new method was developed for the synthesis of 7,8-dihydro-5(6H)-chromanone derivatives by the reaction of 1,3-cyclohexanedione with Mannich ketones and the subsequent reduction and cyclization of the condensation products.
