Summary

  1. 1.

The condensation of the bromo compound (I) with excess of sodioacetoacetic ester was studied, and it was shown that reaction goes with formation mainly of ethyl 2,3,4-trimethyl-1, 3-cyclopentadiene-1-carboxylate.

  2. 2.

The possible mechanism of this reaction and its reaction to the configuration of the original bromo compound are discussed
