  1. 1.

    Oxidation of phenols by lead tetraacetate takes place with intermediate formation of phenoxyl radicals.

  2. 2.

    The spectra of radicals formed by oxidation of phenol and a number of para-alkyl phenols by lead tetraacetate were investigated for the first time.
