Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

Water is a necessary reagent for the oxidation reaction when cellulose is reacted with nitrogen oxides.

  2. 2.

Carboxylcellulose dinitrate was obtained, having a COOH group attached to C6 and O-NO2 groups attached to C2 and C3 of the anhydroglucose unit.

  3. 3.

The nitration of cellulose with gaseous nitrogen oxides was accomplished.
