For the first time the solid-state radiation-induced polymerization of a number of univalent- and bivalent-metal propiolates was carried out: polyconjugated structures were formed.

A number of organic-base propiolates were polymerized, and it was shown that large cations create steric hindrance which makes solid-state polymerization impossible.

Some peculiar features of the oxidation reactions of monovalent-metal polypropiolates were studied.

The polymeric salts of univalent metals and organic bases are soluble in water and are polymeric electrolytes.

It was shown that polypropiolic salts have high thermal stability, and hypotheses regarding their structure are advanced.
