The use of gas-liquid chromatography to analyze mixtures of esters of some aliphatic dibasic and cyclopentane carboxylic acids

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

We have studied the gas-liquid chromatography of esters of aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, with straightand with branched chains of carbon atoms, from oxalic to dodecane carboxylic, camphoric and homocamphoric acids and monobasic cyclopentane carboxylic acids.

  2. 2.

Satisfactory separation of the compounds of these classes can be achieved in a column with silicone elastomer (Homocyan 410), the accuracy in the analysis being sufficient for the solution of a number of practical problems.

  3. 3.

We have described a simple and reliable instrument which takes into account the features in the use of gas-liquid chromatography for the solution of many problems in synthetic organic chemistry.
