Conclusions
-
1.
Oxidation of polypropylene stabilized by additions of the slightly active free radical tetramethoxydiphenylnitroxide is slowed down not by the starting nitroxide, but by its tetramethoxydipheny lamine.
-
2.
In the course of the conversion of tetramethoxydiphenylnitroxide to the amine, one molecule of amine is formed for each two starting radicals. This process is completed in the first 1–2 min and is accompanied by a great decrease in molecular weight of the polypropylene.
