Conclusions

  1. 1.

    p-Diethynylbenzene reacts readily with formaldehyde and secondary amines in the presence of catalytic amounts of CuCl, forming the corresponding diacetylenic diamines.

     
  2. 2.

    In the reaction of p-diethynylbenzene with dimethylamine hydrochloride, instead of the corresponding diamine, the monoamine with free acetylenic hydrogen is formed; it was utilized for the production of a tetraacetylenic diamine.
