Summary

  1. 1.

Ethylene is polymerized at a fast rate on the catalytic system (C5H5)2TiCl2-AlEt3 in 1,2-dichloroethane medium; the catalytic activity of the system is determined mainly by the molar ratio (C5H5)2TiCl2∶AlEt3.

  2. 2.

The molecular weight of the polyethylene increases with increase in the monomer concentration, is practically independent of the initial (C5H5)2TiCl2 concentration, and decreases with increase in the initial AlEt3 concentration.
