Summary
-
1.
The reaction of α,ω-dichlorodimethylsiloxanes with ethylamine has been studied. As a result of the reaction both cyclic and linear compounds are formed.
-
2.
The cyclic compounds are formed when the reaction is carried out with equimolecular quantities of α,ω-dichlorodimethylsiloxanes and ethylamine. With an excess of ethylamine bis(ethylamino)dimethylsiloxanes are formed.
-
3.
The formation of linear compounds takes place as a result of the opening of rings by the action of the excess ethylamine.
