Summary
-
1.
A measurement has been made of the apparent activation energy for the hydrogenolysis of methyl- and ethylcyclopentane in the presence of platinized charcoal.
-
2.
On the catalyst sample investigated, the apparent activation energies for the hydrogenolysis of methyl- and ethylcyclopentane, as well as of cyclopentane itself, are all practically the same.
-
3.
Hydrogenolysis of methyl- and ethylcyclopentanes goes with nearly the same activation energies in all three of the possible directions.
