  • Organic and Biological Chemistry
  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

New methods are proposed for the preparation of HGeBr3, GeBr2, and GeI3.

  2. 2.

In its chemical transformations, tribromogermane behaves like trichlorogermane, but it has a greater tendency to undergo condensation than addition.

  3. 3.

Germanium dibromide reacts with allyl bromide and with butadiene with formation of allyltribromogermane and 1,1-dibromo-3,4-dihydro-1H-germole respectively.
