Summary

  1. 1.

    A method of complete methylation of blood substance A in dimethylformamide and dimethyl sulfoxide medium by the action of methyl iodide in the presence of BaO+Ba(OH)2·8H2O was studied.

  2. 2.

    Group substance A is not destructured under the conditions of methylation.

When this work was prepared for print, the report of Kuhn and Trischmann appeared [8], describing the methylation of simpler carbohydrates in DMSO.
