Summary

  1. 1.

    By the decomposition of N,N'-diacetyl-N,N'-dinitrosobenzidine in a benzene solution of biphenyl an aromatic polymer was obtained which contained an azo group in the main chain as well as aromatic nuclei.

     
  2. 2.

    The properties of the polymer synthesized were compared with those of the polyazophenylene prepared by the reduction of 4,4′-biphenylbis[diazonium chloride] with cuprous salts.
