Summary
-
1.
The addition of HCl and HBr to 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-pyrrolidinone acrylic and methacrylic esters was studied.
-
2.
1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-2-pyrrolidinone 3-halopropionic and 3-halo-3-methylpropionic esters were synthesized. These esters are unstable and readily lose hydrogen halide with formation of the original unsaturated esters.
