Summary

  1. 1.

    A new method for the synthesis of 2-(2-thenyl)furan was developed.

  2. 2.

    By the action of butyllithium on 2-(2-thenyl)furan and subsequent acetylation a monoketone is formed in which the acetyl group is in the α-position of the thiophene ring.

  3. 3.

    A study is made of the reductive desulfurization and hydrolysis of some of the 2-(2-thenyl)furan derivatives synthesized.
