In the reduction of trialkyl thioborates with lithium aluminum hydride, bisalkylthioboranes arc obtained.

Trimethyl thioborate forms a complex with lithium hydride — lithium hydrotrismethylthioborane. When treated with an equimolecular amount of hydrogen chloride, this is converted into bismethylthioborane.
