Organoboron compounds, communication 132. Synthesis of cationic complexes from boron trihalides

Summary

  1. 1.

    By the action of dimethylamine on boron trichloride and on boron tribromide, dichlorobis(dimethylamine)-boronium chloride and dibromobis(dimethylamine)boronium bromide were obtained, respectively.

  2. 2.

    The same salts were obtained by the reaction of dihalo(dimethylamino)boranes with dimethylamine salts.

  3. 3.

    By the action of pyridine hydrochloride on dichloro(dimethylamino)borane, and also by reaction between boron trichloride, pyridine, and dimethylamine, dichloro(dimethylamine)pyridineboronium chloride was synthesized.

  4. 4.

    By the treatment of ethereal and tetrahydrofuran solutions of boron trichloride with ferric chloride or stannic chloride the following substances were obtained: dichlorobis[diethyl ether]boronium and dichlorobis(tetrahydrofuran) boronium tetrachloroferrates(III) and dichlorobis(tetrahydrofuran)boronium hexachlorostannate(IV).
