The effect of current density, substrate material. and method of treating on the internal stresses in electrodeposited iron-nickel films

Soviet Physics Journal Aims and scope

Abstract

Measurements of the internal tensile stresses in electro deposited ironnickel films are reported. It is shown that the current density, the substrate material, and the method of treating it considerably affect the magnitude of the internal stresses. It is found that the internal-stress value is determined by the amount of hydrogen adsorbed at the cathode and by the true surface of the deposit. The results are discussed in terms of the dislocation-sorption theory of internal-stress formation.
