Additional information

The Frenkel' article on cavitation and its effect on the condition of screw-propeller surfaces (equally applicable to turbine buckets) has not been published before and was only recently discovered in the archives. The publication of this paper, not obsolete even today, and written in Frenkel's characteristic lively and “physics-oriented” manner, will serve not only as a sign of our respect for the memory of this remarkable Soviet scientist, taut will serve also for further progress in the resolution of this particularly important problem in the field of engineering; in this article Frenkel' has proposed a possible approach toward the solution of this problem (The Editors).
