Electrical breakdown theory for a two-component system

Abstract

The field distribution between the liquid and solid phases is calculated for pulse tests of breakdown of sodium chloride, coal, and cuprous sandstone in water and in transformer oil, taking account of the phenomenon of polarization build-up. Conditions for breakdown without flashover are found. The rupture mechanism is investigated for a two-component system in pulsed electric fields.
