Abstract
During the recrystallization of rolled permalloy an oriented growth of new grains is observed. The crystals are arranged so that a (100) face is set up parallel to the plane of the plate, and the edge of a [001] cube lies close to the direction of rolling. The formation of a new type of texture also adversely affects the elastic anisotropy of the sheet: the Fourier series which describes the anisotropy after recrystallization then contains a fourth harmonic.
