The organization of mental health care delivery in HMOs

Abstract

HMOs are growing in importance as mechanisms for delivering health services, including mental health care. Yet, little is known about the way in which mental health care delivery is organized within HMOs. The authors address this issue using data collected in a nationwide survey of HMOs. They report findings related to the organization of service delivery, staffing patterns, and treatment methods.
