Conclusions
The suggested method of sighting objectively scale graduations eliminates errors due to the scanner's unstable operation and makes it possible to raise considerably the stability of the PEM readings and the graduation sighting precision owing to a more complete utilization of the electronic circuits' possibilities than in the known PEM circuit.
Moreover, it helps to reduce considerably the errors due to the graduation's “photometric profile” asymmetry without two stage measurements used in existing PEM designs.
