Abstract
A simplified model is proposed for a lanthanide-doped polycrystalline BaTiO3 sample. The dielectric constants and resistivities of the grains and intergrain layers of the sample can be determined from the equivalent circuit. A procedure is given for calculating these properties. The dependences of these properties on the temperature and the lanthanide concentration are found. There is a discussion of the roles of the grain and of the intergrain layer in the changes in the total capacitance and resistivity of a polycrystalline barium titanate sample.
