Abstract
The hysteresis loops of natural single crystals of hematite have been observed on an oscilloscope by means of the Kerr magnetooptical effect. Powder patterns are shown illustrating the remagnetization. The orientation of the ferromagnetic moment is extremely sensitive to internal stresses in the crystal.
