Protection of the null indicator from leakage currents in voltage comparison circuits

Conclusions

The circuit methods proposed for protecting the NI from leakage currents reduce the requirements on the insulation resistance by a substantial amount. As a rough guide it is recommended that in comparison circuits for emf's and voltages which contain only the sources being compared, the NI should have current protection because it is simpler to realize and to use, while in the circuits which include more auxiliary voltage sources it should have potential protection (Fig. 2a). A final choice of protection circuits is only possible after analyzing their effectiveness by the procedure proposed in this article.
