Abstract
The experiments of Lattischeff and Leipunsku have been checked by a pulsed method under electron-beam conditions. The data were used to calculate the concentration of excited mercury atoms at the 63P0 level and to evaluate the effective cross sections for the excitation of inelastic collisions of the second kind. Our results are in good agreement with those reported by Fabrikant.
