Method of reflectorβ reflection

  • Published:
Soviet Physics Journal Aims and scope

Abstract

A method of reflector reflection is proposed which permits repeated reflection on β radiation when only a single surface of the test object is accessible for measurements; it involves the introduction into the gap between reflections from the test object of an auxiliary reflection from a lead or bismuth plate. Experiments are reported which show that the energy and intensity of the reflector reflection are sufficient for detection and that the intensity has a nearly quadratic dependence on the atomic number Z. Instruments are described for analysis by this method.
