Abstract
A study was made of elastoplastic deformation In surface layers caused by normal and tangential forces. A definite relationship is shown to exist between the external friction force and elastoplastic deformation. Maximum elastoplastic deformation arises in the contact zone when static friction is replaced by moving friction. The maximum elastoplastic deformation corresponds to the static friction force.
