Effects of the counting mechanism on the reading error of an electricity meter

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Conclusions

It has been shown by experiment that the operating torque of the recording mechanism influences the accuracy of induction-type electricity meters at small loads. Increase in the opposing moment increases the negative error of the meter. Fluctuations in the torque cause periodic errors.

Vibrations during operation of the meter reduce the opposing moment of the mechanism; the coefficient for the reduction in the moment is dependent on the mass in the moving part, on the opposing moment itself, and on the load factor, the values lying in the range 2–6.5.
