Conclusions
-
1.
Modification of alloy EI765 by calcium contributes to the clearing of the grain boundaries from the α′-phase precipitated over them to uniform distribution throughout the entire metal volume, and to a sharp decline in formability and the appearance of the dark-etching phase.
-
2.
Heating of metal in the modifying furnace leads to the burn-out of calcium, coagulation of the α′-phase, its precipitation along the grain boundaries, and the disappearance of the dark-etching phase.
-
3.
The investigated method of alloy EI765 modification by calcium improves the formability of this alloy and augments its plasticity during heat-resistance tests by more than a factor of two.
