Conclusions
-
1.
A study was made, by the electron-fractography method, of the structure of the rupture surfaces of fused titanium, zirconium, niobium, and tantalum carbides.
-
2.
It was established that fused carbides undergoing cleavage rupture as brittle materials exhibiting mainly transgranular fracture.
-
3.
A pronounced influence upon a number of physicomechanical characteristics of this class of brittle materials is exerted by the presence in their structure of microductility areas.
