Summary

(SiCl)n is a high polymeric compounds with a layered structure, yielded from the layer lattice CaSi2 with ICl. New compounds were formed on the surface of these layers by action of polyvalent alcohols like ethanediol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol and glycerine. BET and IR measurements and the analysis show that all OH groups of the alcohols react with the Si-Cl linkage on one layer, forming a handle structure. (SiCl)n also reacts with trimethylaluminum, forming a polymeric methylsilicon Si(CH3) n .
