Summary
Of concern in the paper is an analytical study on the dynamic stress field in the arterial wall under the combined action of the internal pressure exerted by blood and the external pressure from the surrounding components of the body. The artery is modelled as a thick-walled cylindrical shell. The nonlinear constitutive relations under the purview of a third order theory are of use in the realm of the characterization of anisotropic viscoclastic incompressible material behaviour of the artery undergoing finite deformation in order to obtain the generated stress field. The twist angle of the artery under consideration has been accounted for. By incorporating the short-time-range approximations, a quantitative analysis has also been made at the end of the paper in order to examine the stresses and strains developed at various locations of the arterial wall and for different time intervals as also the effects of twist on them which illustrate the applicability of the model under study.
