Conclusions

  1. 1.

A study was made of the effect of temperature on the microhardness of titanium, niobium, and tungsten carbides in a wide temperature range (from 73 to 1973°K). The relationship obtained is described by the Trefilov-Mil'man equation established for the transition metals and covalent crystals.

  2. 2.

An analysis has been made of the relationship between the microhardness of titanium, niobium, and tungsten carbides and temperature, and values of energy of activation, activation volume, and potential barrier width have been estimated.
