Some properties of carbonyl iron-nickel powders

Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Specimens from carbonyl iron-nickel powders prepared by the process developed at the Gipronikel' Institute are distinguished by their high chemical purity. The amount of carbon present in these powders drops in the course of sintering to thousandth parts of 1%, while their total gas content does not exceed 0.005–0.008% and the concentration of other impurities, 0.01%.

Using the data obtained on the properties of the iron-nickel powders, it is possible to select compaction and sintering conditions yielding parts of high density and strength.
