Conclusions

  1. 1.

The optimum magnetic properties for relay steel may be obtained by annealing initially oxidized specimens (components) in a vacuum. This is controlled by a procedure involving totally sequential decarburization and denitriding processes.

  2. 2.

Annealing relay steel specimens (components) in dry and moist atmospheres cannot always prevent aging.
