Growth of α-Al2O3 whiskers by a vapor-liquid-solid phase mechanism

Conclusions

It has been established that, in the presence of lead in the growth zone, α-Al2O3 whisker growth during the oxidation of aluminum in wet hydrogen is due to a vapor-liquid-solid phase mechanism.
