Conclusions
-
1.
A projection of the solidus surface on the Mo-HfC-C composition triangle has been constructed.
-
2.
The cubic molybdenum and hafnium carbides form a continuous series of (Hf, Mo)C1−x solid solutions-the δ phase, which is found in all the equilibria with the other phases occurring in this system.
-
3.
The maximum hafnium content of the Mo2C base solid solution on the solidus surface is 5 at.% at 32 at.% C.
-
4.
The lowest initial melting temperature in the partial system Mo-HfC-C (2120 ± 20°C) is exhibited by alloys from the three-phase (δ +β 1 +γ) field.
