Abstract

Already small admixtures of sulfur and/or arsenic cause a significant diminuation of the crystallization tendency of undercooled GeS2 melts and an increase of its glass forming ability. The glass forming tendency of the modified melts was investigated by DTA and indicated as to quantity by the empiric factorG q . The linear rate of crystal growth of H.T.-GeS2 on reheating of sulfur containing GeS2 glasses was determined. Its temperature dependence can be expressed by a simpleArrhenius-type equation.
