1.
The composition of the crystalline phase forming in the glass constituent during the sintering of metal-glass materials and the degree of crystallization of the glass are determined by the sintering temperature, the composition of the starting glass, and the material of the metallic matrix. The effectiveness of the latter two factors also depends on the sintering temperature. At relatively low temperatures, the principal factor controlling the composition of the crystalline phase is the glass composition. At higher temperatures, at which the glass composition can be strongly affected by impregnation with the matrix metal, it is the chemical composition of the matrix that determines the mineralogical composition of the crystallizing glass.
