Conclusions
-
1.
A new superhard material, Geksanit-R, has been developed, which can be successfully used in tools for the finish and semifinish turning of quenched steels and cast irons.
-
2.
In the turning of quenched steels with Geksanit-R tools in a 1K62 lathe, it is possible to obtain-machined surfaces with a Class 9b finish.
-
3.
Tool flank wear, h f , provides the most reliable measure of the wear of Geksanit-R tools; the maximum permissible value of h f is 0.4 mm.
-
4.
It has been established that Geksanit-R tools can be employed for the turning of quenched steels under shock-load conditions.
