Conclusions
-
1.
Transition metal silicides were synthesized under self-propagation conditions and their combustion temperatures were measured.
-
2.
It is shown that the synthesis of these silicides can be controlled by varying certain process parameters.
-
3.
Single-phase MoSi2, Ti5Si3, ZrSi2, TiSi2, NbSi2, TaSi2, and Mo3Si suicide specimens were produced having characteristics closely matching those reported in the literature.
