Creep of titanium monocarbide in its homogeneity range

  • Published:
Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics Aims and scope

Conclusions

The mechanism operative in the plastic deformation of titanium carbide depends largely on testing conditions. For nonthreshold creep, the rate of deformation is limited by directional diffusion of the metal atoms. In the homogeneity range of this compound, the rate of creep of titanium carbide varies nonmonotonically.
