Summary
The linear differential equation of Navier-Stokes is solved for an infinite rotating cylinder which is horizontally exposed to a stationary flow of a viscous fluid. This is obtained using assumptions for the pressure and both components of the velocity. A slip is supposed on the boundary so that the slip velocity becomes proportional to the shear stress. The slip influences the total drag negligibly. It is shown that with rotating cylinder the effect of slip on the flow increases. Under various slip conditions the rotation influences, particularly, the shape and the size of the eddy. The lift decreases with the slip and vanishes for perfect slip. For low Reynolds numbers it attains half of the value predicted by Kutta's relation.
