Summary
-
1.
Metallized polymer powders were obtained by the method of vacuum deposition of zinc. Zinc vaporcondensation is effected by the vapor→crystal mechanism.
-
2.
By pressing metallized powders at a temperature below the flow temperature of the given polymer, it is possible to produce specimens which conduct electricity.
-
3.
On heating, specimens from pressed metallized polyethylene and caprone powders increase in volume in consequence of the relaxation of induced elastic strain. This is not observed for specimens from metallized polyethylene powders pressed at 1000 kN/cm2 or from epoxy resin and polystyrene. The flow temperature of specimens from metallized epoxy resin powders pressed at 20°C rises by 10°C.
-
4.
Using the method of complex thermal analysis, it was demonstrated that deposited zinc slightly increases the resistance of polymers against thermooxidizing destruction.
