Conclusions

From the critical crack opening displacement δcr determined in testing double-notched samples at the operating temperature, we can assess the susceptibility to creep damage of 12Kh1MF steels.

A sharp reduction in δcr starts in stage II of creep. Accordingly, it is possible to take prophylactic precautions, since the time from the end of stage II of creep to fracture is 20–30% of the operating time of the parts.
