Phase equilibria in the Mo-TiC-Ti region of the ternary system Mo-Ti-C. Character of solidification of alloys and projection of the solidus surface Part I

Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

A study was made of the high-temperature structure of alloys in the composition region bounded by the Mo-TiC-Ti triangle of the ternary system Mo-Ti-C.

  2. 2.

It is shown that, in the region investigated, there is continuous transition from congruent alloy solidification to incongruent. The transitional conodal triangle lies at a temperature of 2165‡C.

  3. 3.

The boundary of the homogeneity region of (Ti, Mo)C1−x solid solutions in equilibrium with (Mo, Ti) solid solutions on the solidus surface was determined.

  4. 4.

The direction of conodes in the two-phase δ+Β region on the solidus surface was established.
