Summary
A description is given of a process for the production of ferric oxide powder, consisting of atmospheric oxidation of iron pentacarbonyl at a temperature of 300–500°C and subsequent heat treatment. The resulting powder is highly dispersed (particle size of 0.5μ), of uniform particle size and of high purity (impurity content not exceeding 1 · 10−3%).
